Netflix is gearing up for its next gripping Korean original series, Lady DUA, also known as Lady Doir (working title). On January 22, the streaming giant confirmed the production of the drama, which delves into the intertwined lives of a woman craving luxury at all costs and a detective chasing her mysterious truth.
Starring Shin Hye-sun, who recently appeared in Dear Hyeri, and Lee Jun-hyuk, who has been gaining worldwide traction from his role in Love Scout, the series reunites the two actors for the first time in eight years since their collaboration in Stranger.
Shin Hye-sun takes on the role of Sarah Kim, the enigmatic Asia director of a high-end luxury brand. Known but rarely seen, Sarah is thrust into the spotlight when she becomes a prime suspect in an unidentified murder case. The series promises to unravel her hidden identity and secrets through Shin’s intense performance.
Lee Jun-hyuk portrays Moo-kyung, a relentless detective determined to uncover the truth. As Moo-kyung digs deeper, Sarah’s true identity—including her real name, age, and background—gradually comes to light, heightening the suspense.
The drama’s core theme—blurring the lines between reality and illusion, or “living a fake life”—has long captivated audiences in Korean storytelling. This provocative concept, combined with high-stakes drama, promises to offer both intrigue and emotional resonance.
Directed by Kim Jin-min, lauded for his work on Extracurricular and My Name, Lady DUA boasts an impressive production team, including cinematographer Ju Sung-lim, editor Nam Na-young, and costume designer Jo Sang-kyung. The series also involves creators behind hits like The School Nurse Files, Mask Girl, and The Outlaws franchise.
With its compelling storyline, star-studded cast, and powerhouse crew, Lady DUA (or Lady Doir) is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix, sparking excitement among fans of Korean dramas worldwide.
