On January 8, Saram Entertainment, Park’s agency, addressed the issue through various media outlets, stating, “The details related to the photo shared by Park Gyu-young can be confirmed in Season 3.” The agency added, “No discussions regarding penalties or breach of contract have taken place.”

Earlier, Park posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the Squid Game set on her Instagram account, only to delete it shortly after. In the photo, Park was dressed in the signature pink guard uniform, sitting next to another actor in identical attire. Though their face was obscured, online communities speculated the actor might be Lee Jin-wook.

The controversy stems from the possibility that the now-deleted photo could be considered a spoiler for Squid Game Season 3. Netflix is known for its strict confidentiality policies, and breaches of such protocols can reportedly result in significant penalties. This has raised questions about whether Netflix might pursue legal action against Park for damages.

Responding to these speculations, Netflix stated, “The matter can be clarified through Season 3,” and reiterated, “There have been no discussions about penalties or breach-related issues.”

Since its debut in 2021, Squid Game has achieved global success, leading to the production of a second season. However, Season 2 faced mixed reviews and controversies, including backlash over the casting of T.O.P. Now, with Park Gyu-young’s spoiler incident following actor Park Sung-hoon’s parody controversy, the series continues to face public scrutiny.

Squid Game Season 3 is slated for release in the second half of 2025.
