BSS (BooSeokSoon) has garnered significant attention with the trailer video for their upcoming comeback, released by their agency Pledis Entertainment on January 8.
The teaser, titled "How Is Your Youth?", was shared on the group's official social media accounts.
In the video, Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi stand on a podium in a rally-like setting, delivering messages themed around youth and directly engaging with fans.
The trailer begins with DK introducing the group, saying, "Hello, we are BSS, the leaders of your hearts." The members then share various perspectives on youth, aiming to comfort and encourage those navigating the complexities of modern life.
At one point, BSS poses a philosophical question: "What is youth? Is it simply being young? Or do you think your youth is already over? Youth is the ability to enjoy life right now." This heartfelt message adds depth to the trailer's narrative.
What has particularly caught fans' attention, however, is the disclaimer shown at the start of the video: "This content was planned in early 2024, and any resemblance to actual people, events, organizations, or locations is purely coincidental."
This unusual disclaimer is believed to reflect the current political climate. Last month, on January 3, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law in a national address, which was lifted the following day after a parliamentary resolution demanding its termination.
Amid heightened political tensions, the disclaimer seems to be a precautionary measure by BSS and their agency to avoid controversy, given the election rally-style format of the trailer.
Fans and netizens have responded with a mix of amusement and admiration for the group’s creativity, leaving comments such as, "I can’t stop laughing at the disclaimer at the beginning," "BSS unintentionally became idols of the times," "The company must have been so nervous about this concept," and "Of all concepts, it had to be an election rally."
BSS's comeback marks their return nearly two years after their first single album, "Second Wind," released on February 6, 2022. The title track, "Fighting," gained immense popularity as a motivational anthem for office workers and students, becoming a go-to song for starting the day.
For this comeback, BSS continues to embrace their role as "guardians of youth." Through their new title track, the members deliver messages of positivity and empowerment, reflecting their commitment to supporting young people in their journeys.
