Singer Kim Junsu has been revealed as the first official owner of Tesla’s electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, in South Korea, according to a report by Korea Economic Daily on December 26.
The report stated that Kim recently took delivery of the innovative Cybertruck, a vehicle produced by Tesla that has captured global attention. Last month, G-Dragon made headlines when he was spotted riding in a Cybertruck at Incheon International Airport, but the vehicle at that time had a temporary license plate, as it was not officially released.
Kim Junsu’s Cybertruck has been confirmed as the first officially registered unit in South Korea. The news was shared via a blog post from a foreign car import dealership, which titled the entry, “The First Tesla Cybertruck with a Korean License Plate: South Korea’s First Officially Delivered Cybertruck.”
The blog author explained, “We couldn’t announce this earlier due to confidentiality agreements with Kim Junsu and his agency.” The post also featured a photo of the vehicle’s front, showing the license plate positioned to the side.
Regarding the unusual placement of the license plate, the author noted, “The plate was placed to the side due to the central location of the camera.” They also added, “The owner, Kim Junsu, was eager to receive the vehicle as quickly as possible, opting for air transport despite the complex procedures and wait times.”
The Cybertruck is a massive vehicle measuring 5.7 meters in length, 2.2 meters in width, and weighing 3.1 tons. Its futuristic design and metal exterior are standout features. Prices range from $60,990 (approximately ₩89 million) to $99,990 (approximately ₩146 million), depending on the model.
Initially met with mixed reactions due to its bold design and price, the Cybertruck has recently gained traction, positively impacting Tesla’s sales figures. According to Tesla, “Since the Cybertruck began deliveries late last year, it has contributed to a profitable quarter. In Q3 of this year, it became the third best-selling electric vehicle in the U.S., following the Model Y and Model 3.”
Additionally, a collision in Jalisco, Mexico, last month demonstrated the vehicle’s safety. Despite severe damage to the Cybertruck, all four passengers survived the accident. Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared photos of the crash on his social media, remarking, “The Cybertruck is strong and durable.”
