As SEVENTEEN’s mix-unit BSS (DK, Hoshi, and Seungkwan) gears up for their highly anticipated comeback in January, another exciting announcement has captured fans’ attention: Hoshi and Woozi are set to debut as a new unit group!
This marks the second instance of SEVENTEEN members forming a duo for unit activities, following Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s release of their first single, 'This Man', in June, approximately seven months ago.
Hoshi and Woozi, both born in 1996 are known as 'HoWoo Alert' pair by fans, a play on their names. Their combination has long been cherished, and the announcement has sparked curiosity about what the performance team leader (Hoshi) and vocal team leader (Woozi) can achieve together, given their respective expertise in dance and music production.
The unit’s debut will follow closely on the heels of BSS’s January comeback, extending the relentless energy SEVENTEEN has shown through their packed schedule, which included the release of their 12th mini-album, LOVE, MONEY, FAME (feat. DJ Khaled), a world tour, and year-end performances.
SEVENTEEN has always showcased a wide musical spectrum through their creative unit system. In addition to their three core sub-units—Hip-hop Team, Vocal Team, and Performance Team—the group has impressed fans with unique combinations such as Leaders (composed of unit leaders), 95s, and 'Maknaes' (youngest members), demonstrating their diverse appeal.
Carats (SEVENTEEN’s fandom name) are already buzzing about the announcement of Hoshi and Woozi’s collaboration. Fans have flooded social media with comments like, “Ready to empty my wallet,” and “I can’t wait any longer!”
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN continues to cement their reputation as a leading K-pop group. In 2023 alone (January to November), they achieved nearly 10 million album sales and drew close to 1.5 million fans to their concerts, both online and offline, setting new benchmarks for world tours.
In November, the group wrapped up their dome tour, '[RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN', with resounding success and is set to kick off '[RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN ASIA' in major stadiums across Asia starting January 2025, continuing their connection with global fans. On December 25, SEVENTEEN also made history as the first K-pop artist to perform a solo stage on Disney’s year-end special in the U.S., further solidifying their global impact.
In a message to fans, SEVENTEEN said, “Carats have supported us for the past nine years, and we are so grateful to share this journey with you. We promise to continue singing for you always. Please look forward to the many sides of us we’ll show next year and keep cheering us on.”
