Mino(Song Min-ho), a member of the K-pop group WINNER, is facing allegations of negligent behavior during his public service duty. In response, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has ordered an emergency investigation into the overall status of public service personnel.
On December 24(KST), Mayor Oh announced via social media, “I have instructed a comprehensive emergency investigation into the working conditions of public service personnel within Seoul and its affiliated organizations.”
This action follows recent accusations that Mino failed to fulfill his duties responsibly while serving as a public service worker. Mayor Oh addressed the issue, stating, “Although the majority of public service workers diligently fulfill their military obligations while supporting the daily lives of citizens, instances of negligence by a few can lead to widespread societal discontent and erode trust in the fairness of military service.”
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to thoroughly inspect the status of public service workers through this investigation and take strict measures against any confirmed cases of negligence. Mayor Oh added, “We will take stern action based on the findings of the investigation and, if necessary, propose improvements to the Military Manpower Administration to ensure fair and transparent military obligations.”
The controversy surrounding Mino began with allegations that he had repeatedly arrived late or was absent without authorization during his time as a public service worker. In response, Mino’s representatives stated, “There were unavoidable personal circumstances,” but the explanation has done little to quell public criticism.
