NewJeans is set to make their first broadcast appearance in Korea following their recent press conference.
On December 24 (KST), during CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,' anchor Kim Hyun-jung teased a special Christmas episode, saying, “Tomorrow, we’ll have a Christmas special. The first part will deliver live news as usual, and the second part will feature a mini concert with the five girls—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.”
This announcement has heightened anticipation, especially after NewJeans’ surprise press conference on November 28 (KST), where they announced their decision to leave their agency, ADOR, citing unresolved issues despite prior requests for improvements. The group officially notified ADOR of their contract termination starting at midnight on November 29 (KST) and has since embarked on an independent path.
Since December 14, NewJeans has been active on a self-managed Instagram account (@Jeanzforfree), where they’ve been sharing updates on their latest promotions, photoshoots, and more. However, ADOR has expressed concerns about these independent activities, stating that they were conducted without prior consultation, thereby violating the terms of the group’s exclusive contract.
According to multiple outlets, including News1, ADOR released a statement saying, “All social media accounts created outside of the official NewJeans channels managed by ADOR were not pre-approved as per contract terms. These accounts and their content have already led to inquiries and complaints from advertisers and third parties, which is a cause for concern.”
ADOR also expressed dissatisfaction with the group’s decision to appear on 'Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,' stating, “The members made this decision independently, and ADOR was not informed in advance.” Despite this, fans are eagerly anticipating NewJeans’ appearance on the Christmas Day broadcast, curious to hear their candid thoughts about their journey so far and excited to see a performance that’s uniquely their own.
NewJeans will also appear at the '2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon', set to take place on December 25 at Inspire Arena in Incheon’s Yeongjongdo.
