On the night of the 3rd, President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a state of emergency through an urgent address at 10:25 PM. About 2 hours and 30 minutes after the sudden declaration, the National Assembly passed a resolution demanding the lifting of the state of emergency, and President Yoon lifted the declaration and withdrew the emergency forces 6 hours later.
On the 7th, the impeachment motion for President Yoon was brought up in a National Assembly session, but the vote was nullified due to a lack of quorum. Only 192 members from the opposition and 195 from the ruling People Power Party, including Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Sang-wook, and Kim Ye-ji, attended the session.
